Introduction:
The regular camp at ATC is designed for the beginner goaltender or the goaltender who desires to “master the fundamentals”. This camp is all about learning new skills, practicing those new skills and becoming a more complete goaltender or as we call it at ATC, “Knowledge into Action!”. The major focus of the Regular camp is on goalie specific skating, basic positioning and first save technique. 5 full hours of ice time will be dedicated to improving goalie specific skating. Skating has become the most vital part of a goaltenders game; therefore it needs the MOST amount of attention.

On Ice Overview:
Each ice session will be controlled, focused and efficiently run. The major focus of the morning ice sessions will be movement and positioning based. The afternoon sessions will build upon the morning sessions while adding pucks into the equation. Fundamentals is the key to the regular program, the morning will focus more on teaching and the afternoon will focus on the athlete themselves putting their new found knowledge to work for them (Knowledge into Action!).

Off Ice Overview:
The dryland training portion of the camp will be based on goaltender specific requirements such as leg power, core strength, aerobic endurance and anaerobic endurance. The students will find a balance between exercising and playing competitive games like soccer, basketball, football, etc. The students will be required to work hard but more importantly have fun!

The lecture series in the regular camp will consist of basic introductory topics such as equipment do’s and don’ts, mental preparation and goal setting, proper stretching for goalies, as well as other important topics.

Upon the conclusion of the Regular Camp students will be able to:

  • move in their crease effectively
  • get into the proper first position
  • make controlled first saves
  • recover from first save effectively

  Testimonial

Definitely seen a big improvement in   his game. What I have noticed is the   technical end of his game. Since he   has been with ATC his   technical game has come along so,   his movement, recovery, and position   has improved drastically.

I know alot people, alot of coach
es,   and goalie parents and I am always   talking about ATC.
